How to differentiate related varieties: Ambrosia trifida var. texana is treated as a syn. of Ambrosia trifida by WFO, WCVP, and POWO. The GCD lists it as uncertain (unassessed). The SERNEC lists it and gives its range as the southern states AZ, NM, TX, and MS. If Ambrosia trifida var. texana is accepted, then the variety present in WI is the autonym Ambrosia trifida var. trifida.
