The abaxial leaf surface of C. canadense has stellate-tomentose and also simple hairs, while the adaxial surface is sparsely stellate-pubescent and has simple hairs. Bracts are absent for C. canadense, whereas C. bicknellii has bracts 3 to 7 mm long and 0.5 to 1 mm wide.
