Ethnobotany: No recorded uses by tribes from Wisconsin. The Navajo and the Pawnee used this plant to treat various ailments including abdomen pain, toothache, and fever, and as aprophylactic. The Navajo and at least two other tribes utilized this plant as a food source (Moerman, p. 192, 1998).
