The alert sound is the sound the computer makes when it wants your attention.
To change the volume of the alert sound, use the Alerts section of the Sound control panel.
Open the Sound control panel for me.
If you can't change the volume of the alert sound:
Make sure that the Main Volume control in the Sound control panel is not set too low.
