Printing
You can print the contents of most documents, the entire desktop, or the contents of any window on the desktop. To print most documents, you must have the application that created the document (or another application that can open and read the document) on your hard disk. Exceptions include EPS, JPEG, and PostScript files. IMPORTANT: Before you can print, you need to select a printer using the Chooser or Desktop Printer Utility. If you want to print on a printer using infrared technology, you need to make sure your computer and printer are set up correctly for printing on an IrDA printer. Printing documents To print an open document: To print a closed document on the desktop: Tip: If you've selected a desktop printer, you can also print a document from the desktop by dragging the document's icon to the desktop printer icon. Printing the desktop To print a picture of the desktop: To print the contents of a window: Managing print jobs on a desktop printer If you're printing on a desktop printer, you can see which of your documents are waiting to print, change the print order, or cancel print jobs in the desktop printer window. To view or change the status of print jobs: To change the default desktop printer: Tip: You can see which of your documents are waiting to print on a desktop printer, but you can't see the documents other users are printing. To see if a printer is busy, select the desktop printer icon, open the File menu and choose Get Info, then choose Status & Configuration from the submenu.
