QuickDraw 3D troubleshooting tips

If QuickDraw 3D could not be found, or an application cannot open a QuickDraw 3D file:
Make sure the following files are in the Extensions folder (inside the System Folder):
    QuickDraw 3D
    QuickDraw 3D RAVE
    QuickDraw 3D Viewer
    QuickDraw 3D IR

If you have the correct files, then you don't have enough random-access memory (RAM) available to use QuickDraw 3D. Try one or more of the following:
    Quit other open applications.
Reduce the amount of memory allocated to the application.
    Install more memory.

If 3D rendering doesn't seem to be accelerated:
Some computers have a 3D accelerator that increases the performance and quality of 3D images. If your computer has a 3D accelerator and you don't notice its effects, check the following items:
Make sure the program you're using supports 3D acceleration. Even programs that support 3D acceleration may not show dramatic improvement.
Make sure your monitor resolution is set to the size that works with your accelerator. Refer to the documentation that came with your computer or accelerator to see what resolutions it supports.
Make sure that application program uses QuickDraw 3D. Some older 3D applications don't use QuickDraw 3D and cannot be accelerated.
If the Control Strip is overlapping or touching the 3D window, hide the Control Strip or move the window.
Some applications allow you to turn hardware acceleration on or off. Check to be sure that hardware acceleration is turned on for your application. (See the documentation that came with the application for help.)
    Turn off virtual memory.
Make sure that the 3D accelerator software is installed. You may need to reinstall system software if you have deleted the necessary files.
