Creating a hierarchy of USB devices

You can connect hubs together to form a hierarchy, or "tree," of USB devices and hubs. You can have up to six levels of hubs and devices connected, with a maximum of 127 USB devices (including hubs) on each USB port on the computer.

Note: Some computers may only support connecting a maximum of 127 USB devices using both ports. For more information, see the USB specifications for your computer.

The hubs shown in the following illustration are all self-powered.

    Tier 1
    Tier 2
    Tier 3
    Tier 4
    Tier 5
    Tier 6

Note: You shouldn't use USB to connect two computers together.
