Active Site Properties

The active site is colored in cpk. This includes His309, Asp283, Thr265, Asn68, Asp210, Asp70, Asn212, and Glu96.

This is the active site with the Magnesium bound to Glu96. Shown in green.

The His309 (red) acts as a base while Asp283 (blue) would orient the imidazole ring and stabalize the transiently positive charged state during the reaction. The Magnessium bound to Glu96 (orange) also helps stabalize the reaction. The yellow are the other amino acids involved.
