Finding the IP address of your computer
How you determine the IP address of your machine depends on your platform and OS.
To locate the IP address of a PC running Windows 98 or Windows ME: - Choose Start > Run.
- Type command, and press Enter.
- At the command line prompt, type ipconfig, and press Enter.
- Use the IP Address number displayed.
To locate the IP address of a PC running Windows NT or Windows 2000: - Choose Start > Run.
- Type cmd, and press Enter.
- At the command line prompt, type ipconfig, and press Enter.
- Use the IP Address number displayed.
To locate the IP address of a Macintosh running OS 9.1 or earlier: - Choose Apple Menu > Control Panels > TCP/IP.
- Use the number displayed in the IP Address text box.
To locate the IP address of a Macintosh running OS X: - Choose Apple Menu > System Preferences.
- Double-click Network.
- Choose Built-in Ethernet from the Configure menu, and click the TCP/IP tab.
- Use the number displayed in the IP Address text box.
