About record number information

Pages may show individual records or a group of records. These records may be part of a larger record set defined by a content source. You may wish to place text on the page that lets viewers know which records they are looking at and how many records are in the record set. Such text may look like: Record 1 of 20 or Records 1 to 5 of 45.

You may also wish to number each record when multiple records are placed in a table, for example. GoLive lets you add such text by placing placeholder text on the page and then binding parts of the text to special content source fields.

To add record number information to a page:

  1. Type the expression you wish to use; for example, You are viewing record X of X.
  2. Select the first X.
  3. On the Dynamic Bindings palette, select the Bind To option.
  4. Select a content source, and choose the desired variable from the Field menu: Record Number, Record Count, First Record on Page, or Last Record on Page.
  5. Repeat Steps 3 through 4 for any other placeholders you want replaced with one of these variables.
