Adding images

You can place GIF images on a CHTML page, but make sure that the image file size is small. When creating images for i-mode 501i devices size your images to 94 x 72. Designing for 502i or 503i i-mode devices create your images 96 x 78 and 96 x 90. For FOMA 3G i-mode devices you can use 118 x 114. Do your major image editing in a graphics application such as Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator, and then save a copy of the image as a GIF image. Or better yet, use GoLive Smart Objects and link the original Photoshop or Illustrator image directly to your page. Then, you can optimize and resize the GIF image within GoLive.

To add a GIF image to a page:

  1. Drag the Image icon from the Basic set in the Objects palette to your page.
  2. Select the Image placeholder in the document, and then in the Image Inspector, specify an optimized GIF file using the point and shoot button.

To add a GIF image using a GoLive Smart Object:

  1. Drag a Smart Object icon from the Smart Object set in the Objects palette to your page.
  2. Select the Smart Object placeholder in the document and in the Smart Images Inspector, specify a source file using the point and shoot button.
  3. Note: The source Photoshop file should be in your site project file when you link to it.

See Linking files for information on linking files and using the point and shoot button.

  4. In the Save for Web dialog box, optimize the image by choosing one of the following from the Settings pop-up menu.
    • Choose GIF i-mode 1 bit for simple black and white graphics.
    • Choose GIF i-mode 256 for color images or monochrome images with intermediate shades.

See Adding Images and Media for more information on adding and optimizing Smart Objects.
