Preparing the environment for Japanese CHTML authoring

Japanese CHTML pages must use the Shift JIS character set encoding. Japanese i-mode servers will look for the charset=Shift_JIS tag in your source code. To use the Shift JIS character set you need to make sure that the Encodings module is active. This is not necessary for roman languages so you don't have to activate the Encodings module, or change the document encodings. Also, to use emoji characters in your pages the i-mode Emoji module must be active.

To turn on the encodings and i-mode emoji module:

1. Choose Edit > Preferences.
2. Select Modules in the left pane of the Preferences dialog box.
3. In the right pane of the Preferences dialog box, select Encodings and iModeEmoji, and then click OK.
4. Choose File > Document Encoding > Japanese (Shift_JIS).
5. Restart GoLive.
