Showing syntax items in color

As you enter and edit code in the Source Code Editor, GoLive continuously monitors your code and compares it with the content and rules specified in Web Settings. When GoLive recognizes an element, it shows the start and end tags and attributes in color in the Source Code Editor to indicate that the syntax is complete.

GoLive uses different colors to visually separate elements, attributes, and document content in the Source Code Editor, and to make it easier for you to keep track of the source code. You can set options for the types of items you want to show in color, and whether or not you want your source code to wrap at the margins of the Source Code Editor.

To show items in color and use word wrapping:

Use the following buttons in the Source Code toolbar in the Source Code Editor to set options for showing items in color and use word wrapping on your source code:

    • The Colorize Nothing button Colorize Nothing button  turns off the colors of all items. The source code shows in the default text color.
    • The Colorize Detailed button Colorize Detailed button   shows all items in color.
    • The Colorize Elements button Colorize Elements button  shows elements only in color.
    • The Colorize Media And Links button Colorize Media And Links button  shows images and media items only in color.
    • The Colorize URLs button Colorize URLs button  shows references to other documents and locations on the Web only in color.
    • The Colorize Server Side Code button Colorize Server Side Code button  shows server-side code (such as ASP) only in color.
    • The Word Wrap button Word Wrap button  turns on and off the wrapping of source code at the margin of the Source Code Editor.
    • The Line Numbers button Line Numbers button  shows code line numbers.

For information on changing the colors of items, see Setting Source preferences.

Note: You can also set options for showing items in color and word wrapping in the View palette when you are working in the Source Code Editor.
