Adding master items

The Master tab of the diagram window provides a master view with the same grid and canvas settings as the design view. Objects added to the master view (master items) appear on each page of a diagram, but can't be submitted. You might use master items, for example, to display a logo and title on each page of a design diagram.

The master view shows only master items, but the design view shows both master items and objects added to the design view. You can add master items at any time, but it may be most convenient to set them up before beginning work in the design view. That way, you can see the master items while you lay out the diagram in the design view.

To add master items to a design diagram:

Do one of the following:

• Display the Master tab of the diagram window, and drag objects from the Diagram set of the Objects palette to the master view.
• In the design view, select the objects and then choose Master Item from the context menu.
