Favorites

The Favorites item in the Apple menu gives you convenient access to the documents, applications, zones, servers, volumes, and Internet locations you use most frequently.

To add an item to the Favorites submenu, do one of the following:
Select the item in the Finder, then open the File menu and choose Add To Favorites.
Hold down the Control key and click the item in the Finder. Then, choose Add To Favorites from the contextual menu that appears.
Note: If the Simple Finder is turned on, you need to turn it off (in the Finder's Preferences window, in the Edit menu) before you can do this task.

Your computer places an alias for the selected item in the Favorites folder.

Note: If you use the Add To Favorites menu command to add an item that has the same name (but a different file type and location) as an item already in the Favorites folder, the name of the new item has a number appended to it. (For example, "Letters" becomes "Letters 1.") If you add an item with the same name, location, and file type, the new item replaces the existing one.

You can also drag items directly into the Favorites folder (inside the System Folder).

Open the Favorites folder for me.

Favorite items also appear in the Network Browser and in some Open dialog boxes and Save dialog boxes.

Organizing and removing items in the Favorites submenu

You can organize the Favorites submenu by placing items in the Favorites folder (inside the System Folder) in other folders. You can remove an item from the Favorites submenu by dragging it out of the Favorites folder.

Open the Favorites folder for me.
