Contextual menus

A contextual menu contains commands that apply to the item the pointer is on. Contextual menus are available for almost any item on your desktop, including folders, document windows, and the desktop itself.

    To open a contextual menu:
While holding down the Control key, point to an item and click.
If more than one item is selected, the menu contains commands that apply to every item selected. If nothing is selected, the menu displays commands that apply to the desktop or window.

To close the menu without choosing a command:
    Click outside the menu.

If the menu doesn't appear when you click the icon:
Make sure you continuously hold down the Control key while you click and hold on the icon.
You may need to turn off the Simple Finder (in the Finder's Preferences window, in the Edit menu).
Turn off the Simple Finder for me.
