Using AppleScript

AppleScript lets you automate tasks on your computer. For example, using AppleScript, you can add an alias to the Apple menu automatically.

You automate tasks by using a script. A script consists of written statements that contain commands and other information required to perform the task. You can write scripts to control many control panels, items in the Finder, and applications that support AppleScript.

The Mac OS includes several scripts that automate tasks. They are in the AppleScript folder (inside the Apple Extras folder on your hard disk).

    To run an AppleScript script:
    Double-click its icon.

You can create your own scripts to automate tasks. For more information about creating scripts, see Apple Script Help.

    Open AppleScript Help.
