Setting the date and time

To change your computer's date and time settings, use the Date & Time control panel.

Open the Date & Time control panel for me.

If your computer doesn't remember the correct date and time:
You may need to replace the computer's backup battery. Contact an Apple-authorized service provider.

Using a network time server

You can synchronize your computer's clock with a clock on a network time server. Using a network time server lets you make sure that the date and time are correct on your files and email messages. You can select one of the network time servers provided by Apple, or you can use a public time server.

IMPORTANT: Apple cannot guarantee the accuracy of its network time servers. You should not rely exclusively on the network time feature to synchronize important time-critical processes.

To synchronize your clock with the clock on a network time server:
1 Click the checkbox labeled "Use a Network Time Server" to select it, then click Server Options.
2 Open the Network Time Server pop-up menu and choose a time server.
3 Modify the schedule for updating the time, then click Set Time Now.

To modify the list of time servers:
Open the Network Time Server pop-up menu and choose "Edit list."
