Adjusting key repetition

    To adjust the way the keys on your keyboard repeat, use the Keyboard control panel.

    Open the Keyboard control panel for me.

    To change how fast a key repeats when you hold it down:
    Drag the Key Repeat Rate slider.

    To set how long you need to hold down a key before it starts to repeat:
    Drag the Delay Until Repeat slider.

Adjusting function key behavior

    If your computer supports hot function keys, you can use the Keyboard control panel to assign applications and documents to the function keys.

    Open the Keyboard control panel for me.

    To change function key behavior:
    Click the Function Key button.

    If the function key button is not visible:
    Your computer does not support hot function keys.

Setting keyboard options for users with disabilities

    To choose keyboard options that help users with physical disabilities, use the Easy Access control panel.

    Open the Easy Access control panel for me.

    To use the keyboard to move the pointer:
    Select Mouse keys.

    To require that a key be held down for a moment before it is accepted by the computer:
    Select Slow keys. This option reduces accidental keystrokes.

    To allow key combinations (such as Command-C) to be typed one key at a time:
    Select Sticky keys.
