Using audio equipment with an AV monitor

If you have an AV monitor, you can connect audio equipment and headphones to the monitor, instead of the computer.

See the documentation that came with the monitor for instructions on connecting equipment.

To adjust the settings for audio equipment on an AV monitor, use the Monitor Sound section of the Monitors control panel.

Open the Monitors control panel for me.

If you don't see a Monitor Sound section:
Make sure the monitor's ADB cable is connected to the computer and that the software that came with your monitor is installed and active.

For help using the controls in the Monitors control panel, open the Help menu and choose Show Balloons. Then point to the item you want to know more about.

Tip: You can save energy by having the monitor sound turn off when the computer goes to sleep. To use this feature, click the Preferences button in the Monitor Sound section of the Monitors control panel.

Routing sound

With AppleVision AV monitors, you can send sound signals to the computer from devices attached to your monitor. Or you can send the sound signals only to the monitor speakers. This is called "sound routing."

If you want to record sound, you must route it through the computer so it can be processed. If you only want to listen to the sound, route it only to the monitor speakers.

To change sound routing, use the Monitor Sound section of the Monitors control panel. Then click the Routing button to select an option.

Open the Monitors control panel for me.
