Printing on an IrDA-compatible printer
If your computer is equipped with infrared technology that uses the IrDA protocol, you can print on IrDA-compatible printers, such as the Hewlett-Packard 5MP.
Printing on an IrDA printer
To print on an IrDA printer:
1 |
Make sure your computer is set up to communicate using IrDA. |
2 |
If this is the first time you're printing to this IrDA printer, you need to select the printer using the Desktop Printer Utility. |
3 |
Position your computer within three feet of the printer. The IR window of your computer must be directly facing the printer's IR window. |
4 |
Click the icon of the IrDA desktop printer to select it. |
5 |
Open the Printing menu and choose Set Default Printer. |
6 |
Print your document. |
7 |
When you are finished printing, select your normal printer in the Chooser or click its desktop printer icon and choose Set Default Printer from the Printing menu. |
If you have problems printing to an IrDA printer:
|
Make sure AppleTalk is active in the Chooser. |
|
Make sure IrDA is selected in the "Connect via" pop-up menu in the AppleTalk control panel. |
|
Make sure IrDA is selected in the Infrared control panel. |
|
Check the printer. Printer errors, such as a paper jam, are not reported when you're using an IrDA printer. |
|
Make sure that the correct PPD file for your type of printer is selected in the Desktop Printer Utility. |
|
If your printing session was interrupted, wait a minute and try printing again. Some IR printers may take up to a minute to reset if an infrared connection is broken during the printing process. |
|
Reposition your computer and try printing again. |
