Selecting network services
Some applications enable you to open a specific URL or browse the network for application-specific services or general services like AppleShare, FTP, or HTTP.
To browse for a service:
Expand the listed network neighborhoods until you see the service, click to select it, and click Choose. |
To select the type of server you're looking for:
Click the Shortcuts button and select the service type. |
If the service you're looking for is not listed:
Check the service type you have selected (Web server or FTP server, for example). |
Open the Internet control panel, click the Advanced tab, and check the LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) server specified in the Hosts settings. |
Ask your network administrator if the service is registered in a directory in a network segment where your computer can find it. |
For information on how applications discover network services and what you or your network administrator can do to make a particular service appear in your services list, see the Network Services Location Manager Network Administrator's Guide. Search for the title at http://www.info.apple.com/manuals/manuals.taf |
Tip: To see the source directory types appended to the network neighborhoods in the server list, press the Control key when you open the File dialog box.
