Saving a document

To save the changes you've made to a document:
1 Open the File menu and choose Save.
When you first save a document, a dialog box appears. You use the dialog box to name your document and to tell the computer where to store it.
2 When you've named your document and specified where you want to save it, click Save.

Tip: To get more help using the Save dialog box, open the Help menu and choose Show Balloons. Then point to the feature or menu item you're interested in.

If the Save button is dimmed:
You may be trying to save the document on a CD-ROM disc or a locked floppy disk. You cannot save files on a CD-ROM disc.

To unlock a floppy disk, slide the tab on the back of the disk so that it covers the hole in the corner of the disk.

If the filename contains unexpected characters:
The Mac OS supports long filenames, which may not be displayed properly by older applications. You can rename the file in the Finder.
