Finding information about your computer

    To get specific information about the ports, connectors, and other features of your model of computer, check the following places:
    the documentation that came with your computer
    other sections within Mac Help
    other sections of the Help Center

    To download a copy of the manual for your computer, go to the Apple Product Documentation Archive on the Web.

Using the Apple System Profiler

    The Apple System Profiler provides information about your computer's software and installed hardware devices, including the version of system software you're using, how many and what kind of devices are connected to your computer, and what applications are installed on your computer.

    This information can help you if you need to call Apple technical support to solve problems with your computer.

    To open the Apple System Profiler:
    Open the Apple menu and choose Apple System Profiler.
    Open the Apple System Profiler for me.

    To view different sets of information:
    Use the Commands menu.

    To create and print or save a report:
    1 Choose New Report from the File menu.
    2 In the dialog box that appears, select the items you want in your report and click OK.
    3 Choose Print or Save from the File menu.
