The settings in the control panel are defaults for your working environment. These settings are primarily used by graphic arts professionals; most users do not need to make changes to these settings. If you want to make changes, get additional help from a consultant or Apple reseller. For additional expert information go to the ColorSync Web site at www.apple.com/colorsync
To change the default ColorSync settings, use the ColorSync control panel.
To change default ColorSync profile settings for documents:

Click the Profiles tab. Then choose Default Profiles for Documents from the main pop-up menu. |

The four options represent preferred color spaces for new documents and for images without embedded profiles. |

Choose profiles from the RGB Default, CMYK Default, Gray Default, or Lab Profile pop-up menu that match the display or output hardware you will be using. |

The RGB, CMYK, or Gray profile you select is used only if no other profile is embedded with your images or specified in an application or driver. |
To change default ColorSync profile settings for devices:

Click the Profiles tab. Then choose Profiles for Standard Devices from the main pop-up menu. |

Choose a profile from the Input, Display, Output, or Proofer pop-up menu that matches your hardware device. |

Choose a Generic profile if your hardware is not listed. |
All of the settings and profiles chosen in the ColorSync control panel are saved in the active ColorSync workflow. Users can create multiple ColorSync workflows and switch between them, changing all settings in the ColorSync control panel at once.
To change ColorSync workflow settings:

Open the File menu and choose ColorSync Workflows. |

The ColorSync Workflows list shows all the available ColorSync workflows. A checkmark appears next to the active workflow. |

Click the Duplicate button to create a new workflow. |

Click the Info button to rename a workflow or add a comment. |

To make a workflow active, click the Make Active button or place a checkmark next to the workflow by clicking to the left of the workflow's name. |
All of the settings and profiles in a ColorSync workflow can be exported and saved as a ColorSync workflow file. Workflow files can be kept with graphics projects or sent to other users and then imported as ColorSync workflows.
To export a ColorSync workflow as a ColorSync workflow file:

Choose ColorSync Workflows from the File menu. |

Select a ColorSync workflow. |

Click the Export button and save your file on disk. |
To import a ColorSync workflow file as a ColorSync workflow:

Choose ColorSync Workflows from the File menu. |

Click the Import button, then choose a ColorSync workflow file to import. |

To make your imported workflow the active workflow, select the imported workflow in the ColorSync Workflow list. Then click the Make Active button or place a checkmark next to the workflow by clicking to the left of the workflow's name. |
If you want to override the default color management technology in ColorSync (for example, if you are working with an alternative technology provided by a developer or reseller):

Click the CMMs tab. Then open the Preferred CMM pop-up menu. |

When Automatic is selected, the default color-matching method for ColorSync is used. |
