Inserting specially formatted equations

You can create complex mathematical and scientific equations using an application called Equation Editor (included with AppleWorks), and insert them into any AppleWorks document. Equations created with the Equation Editor don't calculate results.

    To insert an equation:
1 Decide how you want to insert the equation:
If you want AppleWorks to place the equation "inline" with the text, click with the I-beam pointer where you want the equation.
If you want AppleWorks to "float" the equation so that it can be moved independently of the surrounding text, click the arrow in the Tools window so that there is no insertion point.
2 Choose Insert Equation from the Edit menu.
    3 Create an equation:
    Type numbers and letters.
To add an operator, choose it from one of the pop-up menus across the top of the Equation Editor window.
To add letters or numbers within an operator, click the text box in the operator and type the text.
To format selected text in the equation, choose options from the Format, Style, and Size menus.
For more information about using Equation Editor, choose Equation Editor Help from the Help menu.
4 To insert the equation into an AppleWorks document, choose Quit from the File menu.

    To edit an equation:
Double-click an equation in an AppleWorks document to open the Equation Editor.
