You can change the background of an entire table, single cell, or range of cells.

To change the background using the Tools window:

1	If the Tools window is not open, choose Show Tools from the Window menu, or click the toolbox icon at the bottom of the active document:
2	Select the table or cells you want to change.
3	Click the Fill formatting button:
4	Click the Color or Pattern palette button and choose a new background. A Color B Pattern

You can also change table backgrounds using the Accents window.
