Moving objects forward or backward

When you draw objects that overlap, AppleWorks stacks the objects in the order you drew them, with the most recently drawn object on top. You can move objects forward and backward to layer them as you please.

To move an object forward or backward in the stack:
1 Select the object you want to move.
2 Choose a command from the Arrange menu:
To move the object forward or back one position in the stack, choose Move Forward or Move Backward.
To move the object to the top or bottom of the stack, choose Move To Front or Move To Back.

If you don't see the Arrange menu:
If you see the Transform menu and not the Arrange menu, you are in a painting document or frame and therefore cannot move items forward or backward. In a painting, you use different methods for selecting, manipulating, and positioning objects. (Because of significant differences between painting and drawing features, it is important to choose whether you need to paint or draw before you begin creating something.)
