Dan Ballageer (1988): Dan did the first two years of his
undergraduate work at UWEC and then transferred to UW-Madison to
do Electrical Engineering. He then received a Ph. D. in Electrical
Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dan
is now employed at Intel. You can reach him by

Lane Dottl (1985-86): Lane graduated from UWEC in 1986 with
a major in Physics. Lane then received a Ph. D. from UW-Madison.
He is the owner of a small instrument company in Illinois.

Ken Dykema (1982,1985): Ken graduated from UWEC with a double major
in Chemistry and Mathematics. At graduation he received Marshall, Hertz and
NSF fellowships. After taking B.A. and M. A. degrees at Oxford,
he returned to the US to get a Ph. D. in Mathematics at UC-Berkeley.
Ken is now a Lektor at IMADA, Odense University in Denmark. You can

John Harlander (1982-83): John graduated from UWEC with a Music
major. He then completed a Ph. D. at UW-Madison.
John is now Associate Professor of Physics at St. Cloud State
University in Minnesota.

Bradley Hinaus (1991): Brad graduated from UWEC with a major in
Physics. He then completed a Ph. D. at UW-Madison.
Brad is now an Assistant Professor of Physics at Allegheny College in
Western Pennsylvania.
His research interests are in high temperature superconductivity.

John Hokanson (1985): John graduated from UWEC in 1985 and
then completed an MD at UW-Madison. After further study in the UK
he then returned to the University of Minnesota as a cardiology
fellow. John is now a pediatric cardiologist at Pediatric Cardology
Associates in Illinois. You can reach him via their

Michael Kelly (1980-82): Mike graduated from UWEC with a major in
Physics. He then completed a Ph. D. at UW-Madison. Mike then did post doctoral
work at the Bell-Core labs. He is on the scientific staff
of the Walter Schottky Institut at the Technical University of Munich.

Susan Kelly (1984-85): Susan graduated from UWEC with a Mathematics
major. She then completed a Ph. D. in Mathematics at Washington
University in St. Louis. Her area of research interest is wavelet theory.
Susan is now an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University
of Wisconsin-La Crosse. You can reach her by

Amir Khamseh (1986-88): Amir graduated from UWEC
in 1988, and then went to the University of Michigan and received
a Ph. D. in engineering. He is now works for the Chrysler Corporation.

Mark Kuehne (1990-91): Mark graduated from UWEC with a Chemistry major
and then completed a Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering at Northwestern
University. Mark is employed at NL Chemical Technology.

David Larson (1989-90): Dave graduated from UWEC and then received his
Ph. D. in Materials Science from UW-Madison. Dave did post doctoral
work at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He was awarded an NSF post doctoral
fellowship for study at Oxford University. Dave is now a staff scientist
at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He is an expert in surface characterization

Martin Poitzsch (1983): Martin is a graduate of Washington University
in St. Louis. He did research at UWEC during the summers. Martin was
awarded an NSF fellowhip, and then received his Ph. D. from Harvard.
He then did post doctoral work at NIST. Martin is now employed

Ty Prosa (1989-90): Ty is a graduate of UWEC and received a Ph. D. at
UW-Madison studying X-ray crystallography of polymers. He did
post doctoral work at NIST. Ty is now an Assistant Professor of
Physics at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. You can reach him via

David Quicker (1989,92): Dave graduated from UWEC in 1992 and then
received a Ph. D. from the University of Minnesota studying some of the
properties of amorphous Si. He is a now a post doctoral fellow at The University
of Colorado. You can reach him via

Victor Shoup (1984): Victor was a Computer Science/Mathematics
double major at UWEC. He received his Ph. D. at UW-Madison in
Computer Science. Victor then did post doctoral work at the University
of Toronto. He is now employed at IBM-Research in Zurich.

Peter Steinbach (1982): Peter graduated from UWEC in 1983 and then
went on to receive a Ph. D. in Biophysics from the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Peter is presently the Acting Chief,
Computational Chemist, The Center for Molecular Modeling at the National
