Most modems are designed for use with a traditional analog telephone system. Most homes use an analog system. Many offices and hotels, however, use a Private Branch Exchange (PBX) with digital extensions. If your office or hotel room uses a digital extension, contact the office telephone manager or service provider about access to an analog telephone line.
